Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos)

I had always fancied doing a Golden Eagle in a flying pose as I have rarely seen flying taxidermy mounts, but getting a bird good enough was quite a challenge.  I also wanted it to be free-standing, so I came up with a design using driftwood (the dog enjoyed the long walks along the riverbank to find the exact pieces that worked).

This Golden Eagle mounted in a flying pose won the Bird Taxidermy Competition and Best of Show in 2015.
