Taxidermists are artists: there are good artists and there are bad artists. Taxidermists in the UK should have qualifications and they should be a member of the Guild of Taxidermists, the only recognised body representing taxidermists in the UK. Out of more than 2,000 Taxidermists in the UK, there are only 47 that have some form of qualification (as at 2003).

| Standard Credit | This is given to Taxidermists who have produced one piece of taxidermy to a good standard. | |
| If quality matters I would suggest you do not give any work to a taxidermist, unless thery are at a minimum of Specialist in the field you require i.e. Bird, Mammal, Fish, Game Head. If the modeling is important to you, you should be looking for a taxidermist with at least one or more Master Credits. | ||
